MileHiCon this week!
~*~*~*~*~

~*~*~*~*~
I made these cards over a week ago, as I knew I would be out last week and wanted to blog mid-week as usual. However, the cards did not actually make it into my bag, so that didn’t go as planned. I was home on Friday and hoped to finish up the blog post then, but I had to leave for a below freezing camping trip and I ended up not getting around to it, as I was more focused on making sure nobody froze to death.
So here we are. I’d like to say you’ll get two posts this week, but I know better than to make promises.
MileHiCon is this week! Am I ready? Kind of. I submitted my moderator questions but I don’t think they’ve been sent back out yet, so I don’t have them to prep other panels I’m on. The author copies I ordered (I’m out of Hallowed Hill, which tends to be my best seller as it’s Gothic Horror and it is Spooky Season) continue moving farther and farther out, so they won’t be here before the convention now. So do I buy a couple at full price? They’re $12 and I normally sell them for a convention price of $10, so that feels like not great, financially. But not having stock also feels bad. Sigh. I suppose I could sell them at $12 and just break even.
I made a bookmark design in Canva that I’m happy with, but I’m realizing I don’t quite know how to get them printed, as they’re double-sided. I may need to find an actual printer, which may not be doable at this point due to time.
Other than that, sure, I’m ready.
Except today I’m having a crisis of why do I keep doing this? I am bad at it and everyone hates my writing. It’s been brought on by a combo of some bad reviews and a few query rejections. Logically I know it’s not true, but unfortunately the life of the average writer is one of much rejection and the occasional acceptance, and sometimes that weighs heavily.
But does it have to do it right before I’m going to this convention? They gave me an autograph session and I feel like a huge fraud right now.
It will pass. It typically does. But I hope it goes quickly.
So, Kit, you may be asking, what about what you said about having your story ready to go to start writing?
Well, I did! I had it ready as of last Wednesday. Have I gotten to writing? No. Part of that was being out of town and then the very cold (and somewhat creepy–maybe I shall write a story) camping trip, and part of it is MileHiCon stuff and the fact that there are fifty million ballot measures (most of them are wildly stupid, but we must do our research just in case). I hope to start tonight. Fingers crossed if you would please, squiders.
Yes. Wish me luck, and good vibes, and I’ll see you maybe Thursday?
